My Update

28 Monday Nov 2011

Man, I am a-growing! So many things happen every week. It’s really hard to keep up. Here’s a snapshot:

I have three confirmed molars that have broken through the surface. I may have a fourth coming in, but I rarely open my mouth wide enough for anyone to check.

I loooooove my books. I “read” a lot and if you give me a book that’s backwards or upside-down, I will turn it the right way before flipping the pages.

I’m really into Dad Guy. He and I have a lot of fun together!
I’m learning some body parts; here I am finding Dad Guy’s nose!

I love to stand almost all the time, and this is what my hair does when Dad Guy convinces Mommy not to brush it after a bath.

Although I love to stand, I do not currently love shoes. This is what happened last time they put some on me. (Sorry, Aunt Viv!)

Life with little me happens too quickly for the parents’ camera phones. This is how lots of their pictures end up looking:

I now wave “goodbye” every time Mommy puts me in my crib for a nap or for bedtime. But then I sometimes give one little protest cry when she actually closes the door.

We have a good time every day, and I know how lucky I am to have such a fun life!

My Arm Strength

When I first started pulling myself up to standing, I didn’t know how to use my legs very well. I used my armsย  a lot. That was hard work!

But, it paid off because now my arms are super-strong. I have to keep the strength up, though, so every morning I do 10 pull-ups. I love it! (Sorry the picture isn’t better… it’s pretty dim in the morning.)

Have you seen my Mommy and my Dad Guy’s arms? Some day I’m going to be as strong as they are!

Also, my Mommy says that my arm strength basically saved my life a few weeks ago at a restaurant. I managed to wriggle out of a high chair restraint, and both of my legs went through one hole. I would’ve fallen all the way to the floor but I caught myself with my super-strong arms! Mommy looked over to find me hanging on for dear life, with just my little head showing above my death-grip on the high chair bar.

That was a close-call, and we were all thankful for God’s protection and my awesome biceps.

My New Stuff

Mommy’s teaching me body parts and I can always correctly identify noses, usually ears, occasionally eyes and (very rarely) lips.

Also, if you ask the question “where?”, I’ll usually throw my hands up.

Here’s proof:

I remembered that I planned to post this video from two months ago, but I just now got around to it. In the midst of all that’s been going on around here, I sorta forgot for a while.

Anyway, my Dad Guy taught me to do this, and actually this is still one of my go-to moves when I want to show off everything that I can do!

My Signing

For many months now, my parents have been signing with me and trying to teach me so that I could communicate with them.ย  I have to admit that I wasn’t too excited to try at first.

Actually, I’m not big on “trying” stuff. My usual method is to study something until I’m sure I can do it. That’s what I did with crawling, and that’s what I did with signing too.

After never even attempting to sign on my own, I few days ago I began to sign “eat” and “more”. My parents said it came out of nowhere but, like I said, I like to study stuff…

Now I can let Mommy and Dad Guy know whenever I want food. Which is pretty often. Mommy laughs because I’m signing for more even as she’s just put food in my mouth ๐Ÿ™‚

This is when I first started doing it.

Now I’m a lot better at it!

My Retreat Photo Shoot

About a month ago, we all went on something called a “retreat.” Mommy and Dad Guy took me with them, and we helped cook for all the students who were there.

I took a break from my really hard work to let our good friend Sean of Day 7 Photography take some pics of me and Dad Guy!

First, I needed to practice my scrunchy face.

Since we were in the kitchen a lot, I grabbed some things from there to play with.

My hair was particularly crazy this day. I blame the wind.

I think my Dad Guy might love me just a little bit. What do you think?

Ok, fine, you’re right – he pretty much adores me ๐Ÿ™‚

Then I decided to give my goofiest smile yet! But I was having such a good time, I couldn’t help it.

Sean’s a great photographer, but he’s my friend too – he’s even come over to watch me before! It’s so fun to have good friends ๐Ÿ™‚

You can go look at more of his pics here.
