My Hard Day

25 Friday Feb 2011

Oy. Yesterday was rough.

In the morning I went to get two shots. Mommy and Daddy have me on a shot schedule where I go every month instead of every other. The good part of this is that I get weighed and measured too so then we can all feel good about well how I’m growing.

But yesterday, they skipped that good part and went straight to the shots. In both legs.

Then, while the shot was going in and I was crying, Mommy saw in my mouth that I have another tooth coming in!

Double whammy.

So for the rest of the day, I was really not myself. Of course, I was still pretty good, but I just needed Mommy and Daddy to hold me more often. Snuggling with them makes me feel all better, even if I’m in pain.

Here I am with Daddy after the shots!

Later, I felt well enough to hang out with Uncle Andrew!

And to practice my standing!

My “Guys”

Life is getting to be pretty fun. Mommy and Daddy give me some stuff to play with, and I’m finding it more and more interesting. Around here, all of my toys are called “guys”.

The first toy I ever really played with was “Manhattan guy”.

One of Mommy’s besties gave it to me when I was only a few weeks old. It was the first thing I could really grab, and I haven’t gotten tired of it yet! Here’ s a video of me grabbing for it when I was so young – about 12 weeks old!

Then there’s “blanket guy”. My cousin Anna Lynn sent me these Aden+Anais blankets because she likes them so much. I like them too; I especially like playing with them!

One of my current faves is “gel guy”. Since I officially have my first tooth now, I’ve really been needing fun things to chew on. Gel guy is perfect! I take it almost everywhere we go.

Of course, there’s rag guy…

…book guy…

…sometimes Dad is even “Dad guy”, when I’m playing with him. I love Dad guy!

Hmm… I can’t think of any more of my guys right now. Those are the ones I play with most often, anyway.

I love my guys!

My Sling

Remember when I said that I didn’t sleep very well the first 6 weeks of my life? Well, there was always one almost guaranteed method to get me snoozin’. It’s the sling that Mommy bought for us when I was only two weeks old.

I LOVE it still, even though I’m getting a little too big to fall asleep in it now. It’s still comfy and I like being able to see the world when I’m out with Mommy or Daddy. Plus, I love being so snuggly with them!

Sigh.

Mommy used to take me to Daddy’s soccer games, and I would pretty much sleep the whole 2hrs as long as I was in the sling. She loved it, too.

Here are some fun pics of me in it:

I’m so glad when Mommy or Daddy decide to take me out in the sling! I much prefer it to that stupid old stroller.

My Hair

I was born with a decent amount of hair. I mean, I wasn’t bald or anything.

But my hair hasn’t grown very much in the last 4 months. In fact, I’ve even lost some, which I think is totally unfair.

I even have a bald spot on the back of my head! I didn’t know about it for the longest time, but then Mommy took a picture of it and started blabbing about it to all her friends. She thinks it’s funny.

I am not laughing.

Mommy has this friend with a baby just one month older than me. Look at all her beautiful hair!!

It just isn’t fair.

But, finally, Mommy says my hair is growing a lot faster these days. It’s starting to stand up in the back and make funny swirls on my head. I think that means gorgeous tresses are on their way soon!

My Tooth

For several weeks now, I have been chewing on everything in sight. I just love putting stuff in my mouth! The doctor told Mommy and Daddy that it’s normal for babies my age, and it doesn’t necessarily mean anything about getting teeth.

But the past couple of days, I’ve been chewing a lot more and Mommy knew something was up. Two days ago, she made me open up really wide (which was kinda annoying) and, sure enough, she said she spotted a tooth about to make its way into the world!

I was wondering what was causing all those owies in my mouth. Now I know!

Soon, maybe I’ll be able to eat the food my Mommy and Daddy eat. I am really curious about it. Here I am reaching for some thing I saw them putting in their mouths.

Daddy called it “cheese” and said I couldn’t have any. Hmph!

Anyway, my first tooth, can you believe it? I’m growing up so fast!

My Core Strength

Pretty much since the day I was born (or since the first day Mommy and Daddy thought to hold me up like this) I’ve been able to do a pretty neat trick.

They think it’s funny whenever I do it. They even make me do it to show their friends sometimes.

Though they think it’s hilarious, Mommy did have to ask the doctor if it was normal.

Wonder if I should be insulted by that…?

Last week, Mommy and I met one of her friends to go for a stroll. Mommy’s friend actually has a little boy that’s just a few days younger than me. Finally – someone my own age!

The only thing is, he slept the whole time we were out!

I put on my cute outfit and everything! Oh well, maybe next time.

My First Real Bath

When I was a couple of weeks old, Mommy and Daddy gave me my first real bath. Oh, and Grandpa was there, too!  Before that, they’d just given me little sponge baths because we had to wait for that weird thing to fall off of my tummy.

Well, it finally did and then I got my first bath.

As you can see, I really wasn’t too sure how I felt about it at first.

Yeah, I really didn’t like it.

Then I relaxed a little bit and realized that it wasn’t too bad.

When it was over, they wrapped me up in this really cute towel that one of my relatives gave me. I liked this part.

(It has a tiger on it because I was born in the year of the Tiger. Obviously.)

This first time was a bit shaky, but now I love bathtime!
